Shuri Castle is probably one of Okinawa’s most famous and recognizable structures. It was the home of the leaders of the Ryuukyuu Kingdom (what Okinawa was between the 15th and 19th centuries.)
Key fact about Shuri Castle: just about everything here is a replica, as the castle grounds were pretty much decimated during the Battle of Okinawa in World War II.
